Have you ever asked God a question and then waited for a response?
Did you receive an answer?
If so, were you confident that it came from God?
Or did you wonder if it was really your own thoughts, ideas and desires that were vying for attention?
Maybe you even suspected the enemy?
Truth is, it can be difficult at first to discern the still small voice of God when He speaks.
But be assured, He does speak to you. You may just not have learned to recognize His voice yet.
If I were to blindfold you and then have you listen to 100 random women say your name out loud, I’ll bet you could easily pick out your mother’s voice from among that group.
Why? Because you’ve probably heard your mother say your name thousands of times. You KNOW your mother’s voice.
God wants you to be that familiar with His voice.
It takes desire and practice.
It takes praying these words: “LORD, train me to know Your voice”.
God likes to be sought. The breakthrough will come but we need to be desperate. Are you desperate to hear His voice?
If so, here are some practical steps you can take:
1. Ask God every question of your heart. Asking invokes answers.
2. Write your questions down in a journal along with God’s responses whether you’re certain they’re from God or not.
3. Ask God to make his answers clear.
You may need to ask God multiple times to confirm an answer and He will faithfully do it.
Over time, you will need to ask Him less and less for confirmation because you have grown accustomed to His voice. The Holy Spirit will speak to your spirit and hearing God will be as natural as breathing.
Can you imagine asking God any question and having Him answer?
