Then God said, “Let there be light”, and there was light. (Genesis 1:3)
Why do you suppose God chose to speak His first words out loud?
It wasn’t like there was anyone on earth to hear Him. He could have just as easily brought forth light through His thoughts. Surely, the results would have been the same. And yet, He chose the spoken word.
Hebrews 11:3 tells us that everything God created, He made out of words. He brought forth what was once unseen into the physical realm through words.
Words have power!
How we speak matters. Our words have the power to bring life or death to someone.
When we compliment a child, notice how they beam with pride. And when we hurl a hurtful word at a spouse or family member, we immediately see the damage.
Death and life are in the power of the tongue.
Everything good and bad in our lives has to do with words.
Words are sound waves and when they are spoken, they bring the invisible into the visible.
Everything is a word creation. We are either blessing or cursing others with words.
Jesus said, “My words are spirit and they are life”.
What about my words and your words?
Are they spirit and life?
