We all want more of God’s power, don’t we?
LORD, restore my marriage, heal my child, provide a new job.
Most of us desire God to intervene powerfully in our lives in some way, shape or form.
The Word tells us that God loves to show Himself strong and powerful. In Psalm 147:5, we learn that Great is our LORD, and abundant in power. Power is part of His nature.
But God’s power is only half of the equation. There is also His presence.
Many want His power but not necessarily His presence. His presence requires time, commitment, vulnerability and especially surrender – things we don’t often make time for in our busy wired lives.
And yet, God’s power and presence are intricately intertwined. There is no power without His presence. They go hand in hand.
As Anita Alexander reminds us, “God’s power is represented by His hand. His presence is represented by His face.”
Presence is all about intimacy with God. It’s knowing the heart of God. It’s seeking the face of God.
How do you seek God’s presence?
It’s about surrender. It’s emptying yourself completely and allowing God to fill you with His Spirit.
Surrender isn’t easy but it’s the key to the power and presence of God.
